Question to A.net
For the last time (I promise this will be the last I speak on the subject) are you going to make any kind of statement to your players and customrs regarding the lag on the European servers?
---steps away from the keyboard in anger---
(EDIT: just to say the game is currently UNPLAYABLE, im off to play something else)

I'm sure they'll try to fix it as soon as they are aware of the problem. But, for the record, I've been lagging a lot lately as well, and I live in the US (east coast).

its stupid they do updates which do absolutely nothing, i know its happened because my nortan detects the file has been changed and makes me re-do the access, i thought hmm another update, checked the website and nothing, the only difference ive noticed is the lag, prophets pass is night impossible to navigate, one second your running the next your ressurecting as a group of minos has come, kill u and buggered off in the time u are still frozen

Lol I just had an arena battle that lasted about 2 minutes, and I reckon a whole 20 seconds of it I was able to move.
If the servers cant handle the excess load then for god sake stop people joining, because the game is UNPLAYABLE

if it is all at Anets end why have i had no more than 2 (two) events where i was frozen for the combined total of maybe 8-9 seconds
other than that i dont even have rubber banding more than once a week if that and it is an isolated event
maybe your isp is part of the problem as if it were a general Anet problem everybody would be hit now and then

Perhaps you MISSED the fact this have been reported for about ... I dont know ... a WEEK in several message boards?
I guess the vast majority of european IPs have decided to fail at exactly the same time and oddly enough only with Guild Wars ...

Amen, get a clue THEN post. Just a random guess here, you play on the US servers? Every person that plays on the US server thats replied to these types of posts thinks its a problem with my ISP...
6pm Saturday Evening in the School summer holidays = Worst lag I have ever seen and everyone I was playing with experianced it too = problem with my ISP? try a problem with A.nets servers unable to handle the load methinks.

Maybe because AN ignored the first 50 threads about it? Why don't you join the scooby doo detective agency, and then get a clue about that?

Or maybe they haven't ignored the 50 threads about it, but are instead looking into the problem and trying to fix it. Just because it's not fixed yet doesn't mean they aren't working on it.

That's what I was thinking.
You have no way of knowing if they "ignored" the first 50 threads, in fact I'm pretty sure it's hard to miss so many, we know that they are AWARE of the situation, so more threads isn't the answer. But "lag issues" are probably one of the toughest issues to just go and fix, some players are experiencing it, some aren't, what's the problem?
They're trying to figure it out, be patient, join another region's servers in the meantime or go play another game until it's fixed. That's what I did when I got tired of GW things.
I'm sure they're not ignoring it, it's just not being "fixed" instantly like most everyone would like.

They won't be ignoring it, because they want to make more money. Losing repeat purchases in Europe isn't a viable business strategy (nor is virtually changing the game overnight, but I digress) and as such they will be trying to diagnose the problem. Whether it be in the game code (doubtful) or the servers, something'll be done. Just have patience. Wonderful virtue. Though I always preferred sarcasm, myself.

Fixes need to be tested. Would you rather they put out a hastily thrown together fix that crashes the European servers altogether?
Patience is always key in this sort of thing.
I think that the quick updates, while excellent of ArenaNet, have caused the playerbase to expect instant fixes. Personally, I'd be worried if they did come up with a lag solution in one week--because more likely than not it's going to have many glitches.
I've had some experience in dealing with server software and I wouldn't expect a stable solution until at least a month. Granted, ArenaNet probably has far more resources (maybe) but to get a robust fix isn't something that easily done.
I do admit that I am on the American servers (given I live in America...) but the fact of that matter is, if the situation was on American servers, I wouldn't want a "fix" that introduced more problems than it solves.

Missed my use of "european"?
Of course I play in european server, I am not blaming the code since I sense its more a hardware issue that anything else but then again we cannot tell for sure.
The fact its been reported by european server players almost exclusive means that its more likely a european server only problem.
And sorry but I was in at Forge about a week ago when someone asked around 2.00 AM (UK time) if anyone was experiencing lag problems and the anwer was yes from everyone that replied, the lag spikes appear to not happening in towns at all and that points even more something is up, not we have IP problems (since it also happen in town).

well i have noticed it is specific areas tonight.
i met a freind in pre ascalon tonight to help him get adjusted to the game, and all night while we played, it lagged like a P1 166 machine trying to run 2 things at once lol.
however, that lag was prety much exclusive to the lakeside region of pre searing.
we traveled to wizards folly, fort ranik, the catacombs and regents valey were lag free for us, but every 2-3 mins we lagged between 6 to 16 or even 20 secconds whenever we came back to lakeside.
its the same thing i have noticed even i post searing. there are areas that are totally lag free and areas that are lag fests. and it seems to me that the areas that are lag fests are mainly the areas that, IMHO are popular with farming and repeat running. (though i have yet to get to botter heaven Riverside and do anything but die-res-die-res)
perhaps there is some sort of scanning going on, and it is interfearing with the normal running of the euro servers? (using the euro servers as a test subject to see if scans will detect repeaters and botters, perhaps? )

Rayea - interesting ideas ... but, arenas are extremely laggy too. They couldn't be scanning those, could they? o.O

Doubt it.
I really dont know what is going on, if it was bots we sould got consistent lag 24/7 in that area and we dont, we have lag spikes at random times and bots run about 24/7 most of the time.
Intensive could explain but heck when europe gets favor the ToA fill at a alarming rating and I never encountered lag there in such a way (just a small delay when a lot of people get in at the same time), only time when I see that was when my connection dies, except I get booted back to log in screen as with the lag spikes I reconnect.

It currently is 3 AM in Europe, there are not really a lot of people online, and yet lag is so bad that it's unplayable: Every few minutes my character freezes for 10-30 seconds (and is dead in most cases).
